- Mancozeb
- A pesticide currently in use that contains manganese. When exposed to excessive quantities of Mancozeb, symptoms that indicate bodily poisoning include irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract. Chronic skin disease has been noted in certain cases of occupational exposure.
- Maneb
- A pesticide currently in use that contains manganese. Maneb is considered carcinogenic to humans and can cause reproductive and developmental anomalies. Excessive exposure may also lead to issues of neurotoxicity causing a severe decrease in mental and physical capabilities.
- Manganese
- A naturally occurring metal that can be found throughout the world in soil, water, and many types of food such as grains and cereals. Manganese is also found in pesticides and is used as a fuel additive in some gasolines. Another common use of manganese is in a steel alloy compound that produces stronger steel resistant to wear. - Manganese pneumonitis
- Inflammation of the lungs affecting the lower airways, caused by the inhalation of manganese particles. Manganese pneumonitis, a form of manganese poisoning, may be fatal or it may be chronic and recurring.
- Manganese sulfate
- A naturally forming chemical nutrient found in fertilizers, necessary for proper photosynthesis in palms, trees, shrubs, and other plants. Excessive quantities of the chemical will damage plant health and distorting and hindering growth. Excessive human contact with the chemical in fertilizers has been linked to health problems including a decrease of motor skills and psychological problems.
- Manganism
- A disease caused by excess exposure to manganese typically by inhalation of dust particles or fumes. Symptoms of Manganism are very similar to Parkinson's disease symptoms and include neurotoxicity resulting in diminished motor and speech skills, partial physical paralysis, inflammation of the respiratory system and decreased mental capacity. - Parkinson's disease
- A progressive systemic disorder that primarily attacks the brain cells that produce neurotransmitters necessary for the normal functioning of the central nervous system.
